Klic Arquitectos is the Málaga architecture studio specialising in beachfront renovations with interior design in Benalmádena. We work on homes in buildings that face the sea, applying design criteria developed specifically for the seafront.
5 key points for renovating a beachfront home
1 · Assessing the seafront building
Sea-facing façades have to withstand salt air, wind and direct sunlight. Before we start designing, we assess the condition of the windows and doors, the building’s shared services, the terraces and any exposed elements.
2 · A new layout that opens the home to the horizon
A kitchen open to the living room, the terrace treated as an extra room, bedrooms facing the sun and the views. The design turns the whole home towards the sea.
3 · Materials that resist the salty sea air
AISI 316 stainless steel for exposed ironmongery and taps, high-end anodised aluminium for windows and doors, compact marble in the bathrooms and timber treated for sheltered outdoor use on the terrace.
4 · Solar protection and thermal control
Pergolas, motorised awnings, technical blinds and high-performance windows and doors. A south or south-east facing façade needs specific solar control so that the home is comfortable all year round.
5 · Contemporary Mediterranean interior design
A neutral palette, modular sofas, light textiles, warm lighting and freestanding pieces. Interior design that enters into a dialogue with the blue of the sea, without ever overpowering it.
