This week we took part in Greencities 2017 as trade visitors. It is the urban sustainability forum that has been running in Málaga for some years now.
It is the sort of event where you cross paths with other professionals and companies working on urban sustainability — services, design or products alike. A forum for comparing notes and keeping up with what is new in the sector.
Extenda, the Andalusian trade promotion agency, had put together an exhibition of technology companies with sustainability at their core. Good to run into the Lar Arquitectura team there, the people at Gestión 360 and pastview, from AJE Sevilla — the young entrepreneurs’ association.
We also sat in on the Greencities elevator pitch session. There we had the pleasant surprise of finding this year’s winners of the AJE Málaga entrepreneurship award: Interactive Movies, with their product Backblack.
Then came the general assembly of the Andalucía Smart City Cluster, which we belong to. The people running it set out where the cluster is heading. We talked things through with the other members and firmed up our intention to back the cluster’s push into the Chinese market.
The day rounded off with a party at Baños del Carmen, one of the better corners of Málaga — a setting that made an impression on everyone there.
All in all, a day of learning and debate that sends us back to the studio with renewed appetite for sustainable design.
