Walk through your architecture project in virtual reality

We’ve got something new to show you!
There’s no better way to round off the week than by launching our new 360 section on the Klic Arquitectos website. From there you can step inside some of our latest projects through a virtual reality viewer: an innovative online tool that lets you move around the 3D model as if you were actually there.

Virtual reality is playing an ever bigger role in architectural visualisation. This innovative resource lets us immerse ourselves in projects that have yet to be built, assess the spaces realistically and make design decisions before construction begins. It goes a step beyond the 2D computer-generated images the profession has been using for some years now, also known as “renders”.
The potential of this tool is enormous and, although it isn’t yet widespread among architecture practices, more and more of us are jumping on the virtual reality bandwagon.

The advantages are clear:

  1. For us as designers, it is another tool for spatial creativity. We can test variations on the same idea until we arrive at the most satisfying solution.
  2. It also helps us immerse ourselves in the project, tying up as many loose ends as possible by controlling details that would otherwise only be resolved on site, during construction.
  3. At the same time it lets us communicate better with clients, helping them understand the spaces of their own project. Naturally, this speeds up decision-making, which means less time spent in meetings.
  4. Once the work is finished, going back to the virtual reality model lets us check whether what was actually built matches what was presented.
  5. One last point in its favour: with smartphones everywhere, anyone can get hold of the viewing tools. There are free apps that turn a phone into a viewer once you slot it into a pair of VR glasses such as Google Cardboard or similar.

The technology has no real drawbacks, but it is essential to point out that building a 360 model is no piece of cake: it calls for specific know-how and adds production time, which always has to be factored in. It’s not just a matter of pressing a button!

At Klicstudio we’ve made a firm commitment to virtual reality and, so that you can enjoy the full experience of our new 360 section, we’ve prepared a batch of #GafasKlic (gafas is Spanish for glasses) for the first 15 brave souls who drop into the office to collect them. Just arrange a time through our social media or by email at comunicacion@klicstudio.com, and come and pick up a pair.
