The studio · Klic Arquitectos
Architecture that turns the everyday into the extraordinary
More than 20 years transforming spaces on the Costa del Sol, guided by one principle: “beauty lies in the simplest solutions”.

At Klic Arquitectos, we believe the best architecture is the kind you feel before it is explained. Founded in 2006 in Torremolinos by Juan Goñi Uriarte and Ruth Buján Varela, our studio has spent more than 20 years transforming spaces on the Costa del Sol.
We are a multidisciplinary team — architecture, interior design, and technical and commercial management — that stays with each client from start to finish. From the very first idea to the handover of the keys, we take care of every detail so that the result doesn’t just meet expectations, but truly moves you.
Our philosophy
Smart Luxe: discreet, intelligent luxury
We work for discerning clients who value the essential. Our Smart Luxe philosophy combines elegance, functionality and technical rigour: luxury that never shouts, but is enjoyed day after day.

About us
Who we are and what sets us apart
Ruth Buján and I founded Klic Arquitectos in 2006, just before the property bubble burst. It sounds like bad luck, but in fact it was what defined us. While other studios grew unchecked, we committed to something simpler: honest architecture, without excess.
We have now been doing this for 20 years, with more than 200 projects behind us. We have worked across a wide range of building types: single-family and multi-family housing, hospitality, sports architecture, refurbishment, offices… And we are still a studio on a human scale, based in Torremolinos, working for private clients and companies all along the Costa del Sol.
The Sorolla 15-17 project earned us an important accolade: Runner-up (Accésit) at the Premios Málaga de Arquitectura (Málaga Architecture Awards), in the Best New Build Multi-Family Housing category. It was a project in which we set out to blend privacy with city life and to tame natural light. The kind of things that don’t sound grand, but in the end turn a house into a home.
Context
The architecture landscape in Málaga
Málaga has a very diverse ecosystem of studios. There are large practices with decades of experience and an international profile, specialising in urban planning and major hotel developments. There are others focused on housing and public facilities — some recognised for their capacity for innovation in hospitality, retail and cultural projects — and others practising a contemporary, sensitive architecture geared towards housing and full renovations. There is also a segment specialising in luxury villas and end-to-end management of high-end construction on the Costa del Sol.
Nationally, the most active studios tend to be large organisations, with teams of 15 to 20 architects or more and an international reach. Against that backdrop, Klic Arquitectos occupies a different place: end-to-end management, genuine personalisation and 20 years of experience in residential, hotel, sports and refurbishment projects.
Our difference
What makes us unique
We are not going to claim we are the best: that would be presumptuous and, besides, it depends very much on what each client needs. But we can tell you what sets us apart:
01
A studio built on people, not volume
We are not looking to have 30 projects on the go. We prefer to get to know each client properly, understand how they will use the space and go through an in-depth questionnaire before we draw a single line. Bespoke work is our foundation.
02
Transparency on costs and timescales
This comes from the 2008 crisis. We learnt that clients need to understand the value of what they are paying for. No surprises, no hot air.
03
End-to-end management
From the initial idea to the handover of the keys. We don’t just produce attractive drawings and disappear. We stay with the project through site management, coordinating and supervising. The connection between the conceptual and the technical is fundamental.
04
Real sustainability, not greenwashing
We don’t put “eco” in front of everything just to look good. We talk about organic materials, about industrialised construction as a tool for quality, and about energy efficiency you will actually notice on your bills.
05
An international outlook without losing our roots
The crisis taught us that relying on a single market is a mistake. Today we work with international clients and speak fluent English, but we are still very much from here.
06
Architecture and interior design as one
We don’t see space as something that ends at the walls. We create warm, highly personalised spaces: organic materials, carefully tamed natural light and interiors designed around the way people really live.
In short
We are not the biggest studio, nor the most awarded, nor the one that appears most often in magazines. But for 20 years we have been doing things properly, with honesty, looking after every client as if they were our only one. And that, in the end, is what keeps us here, enjoying what we do.
As we always say: we turned 18 in October 2024, so we have officially come of age as a studio. And we are still learning.
